A bitter feud has long existed between Republic of Florence’s noble houses. The murder of Cosimo de’ Medici—brother of Lorenzo de’ Medici, leader of the Republic of Florence—threatens to plunge the realm into civil war. 

Seeking to avenge Cosimo’s murder, Lorenzo begins a desperate search to discover who killed his brother and why.  Fearing a conflict between the noble houses will leave Florence weak and vulnerable to foreign attack, Sea Captain Niccolo Corsini volunteers to seek out the culprit behind the crime.

Suspects abound. Was the assassination carried out by a competing noble house, an outside kingdom seeking to overthrow Florence, or perhaps by the power-hungry pope?

With tensions growing daily and Florence teetering on the brink of civil war, Niccolo has little time to discover the true villain. But how can he do so before the Republic destroys itself?
